{"id":1096,"date":"2014-09-25T20:24:37","date_gmt":"2014-09-25T20:24:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carriagereturner.com\/?p=1096"},"modified":"2014-09-27T16:49:33","modified_gmt":"2014-09-27T16:49:33","slug":"another-italian-lesson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carriagereturner.com\/?p=1096","title":{"rendered":"Another Italian Lesson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stringozzi\"><em>Strangozzi<\/em><\/a>, along with the archetypal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wordhippo.com\/what-is\/the-meaning-of\/italian-word-nonna.html\"><em>nonna<\/em><\/a> who makes the pasta, are both stories for another time.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight, we have been busy reading the wrapper that surrounds those stories:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;il tuo negozio di fiducia&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \/ pronoun \/ noun \/<\/strong> <strong>of<\/strong> &lt;the unknown&gt;<\/p>\n<p>First part makes for a somewhat odd construction,<\/p>\n<p>but all languages have their quirks and idioms.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>il<\/strong> negozio<\/em> = the store, shop (recognizably in the neighborhood of negotiate)<\/p>\n<p><em>il <strong>tuo<\/strong> negozio<\/em> = your store, shop<\/p>\n<p><em>la fiducia =\u00a0<\/em>trust, confidence (recognizably from the Latin <em>fides<\/em>, as in faith)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But when you put it all together, interestingly,<\/p>\n<p>the Italian comes out as &#8220;your local store.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Most apt: so decidedly friendly, this locality.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Strangozzi, along with the archetypal nonna who makes the pasta, are both stories for another time.
